Every employer must:

  1. Avoid the need for manual handling
    • Eliminate
    • Automate
    • Mechanise
  2. Carry out risk assessments for manual handling tasks
  3. Provide Information on loads – weights etc.
  4. Ensure that the employee is physically suited
  5. Provide manual handling training:
    • It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that every member of their staff has been trained in manual handling.
